Amanda Ash is the Digital Media Specialist for EPCOR in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

She is a COPA, SNCR and Society for Features Journalism Excellence in Feature Writing-nominated journalist and received her Master of Journalism Degree from the University of British Columbia in the spring of 2010.

Before switching to communications, Amanda worked as a reporter for the Edmonton Journal. She has freelanced for the Vancouver Sun, OpenFile.ca, Demand Media, Us WeeklyExclaim! Magazine and The Block Magazine.

From September 2009 to June 2010, she worked for CBC Radio 3 to create the Canadian Music Wiki.

In the fall of 2010, she was a nominee for a Canadian Online Publishing Award (COPA) in the category of Best Community Feature for her work on the Wiki, and a nominee for the 2010 Society for New Communications Research (SNCR) for their Excellence in New Communications Awards for her work on the Wiki.

Amanda is also a juror for the Polaris Music Prize.

During the summer of 2009, Amanda was an arts and life reporter with the Victoria Times Colonist. In the past, she worked as the Music Editor for Suite101.com, Entertainment Editor for the Gateway, Online Content Editor for NIGHTLIFE News Edmonton and a Tastemaker for CBC Radio 3. She has also freelanced for/contributed to the Edmonton Journal, Chart Magazine, ChartAttack.comBeatRoute Magazine, the Georgia Straight and the National Post.

Amanda has been featured in a number of publications for her Canadian Music Wiki project. She has also been interviewed by McClung’s Magazine about her experience as a female music journalist (see page 32).
